My computer has been stuck in an infinite start-up loop since Thursday. I hope to have it fixed Monday, but right now my only option is reformatting my hard drive.

In case you're interested and wanna offer some suggestions, here's what happened (not the best bug report I've ever written):

Computer shut down fine Weds night. When I started it up for the first time Thurs morn, I went away while it did its thing and came back to find a blank screen. I could not get it to do anything, so I restarted it. Ever since, every time I start it, it goes to the "Your computer failed to shut down properly screen" (or one of those) and offers to let me restart in a variety of safe modes, by saving my last working configuration, or normally.

No matter which option I choose, it begins to start up XP, then flashes a quick blue screen (which passes too quickly for me to read) and begins the whole process over again.

At Fahkingnut's suggestion, I went into setup, made my CD drive the default startup drive and put in my XP disk. The only option I am getting there that does not send me back into the infinite loop is reformatting my hard drive.

Well, I've taken pictures of the blue screen with kittymel's camera. Time to see if those show me anything helpful (unlikely).

And, yes Hugme, I know the answer is to ditch Microsoft ...
