Upcoming events
Sep. 11th, 2005 10:53 amWell, looks like this is going to be a rather busy week. I'm the convenor for the annual Georgia Green Party convention this weekend. It runs from Friday to Sunday, but the biggest event will be Elaine Brown's keynote speech. Elaine is the only woman to ever lead the Black Panther's and is currently candidate for mayor of Brunswick, Georgia (http://www.elainebrown.org/). Her keynote speech will be:
11 am, Saturday, Sept. 17
GSU Urban Life Building Room 100
140 Decatur St SE
Atlanta, GA 30303
On the corner of Piedmont and Decatur St in downtown Atl.
Free
I'm also putting on a fundraiser for her at the Apache Cafe on Sunday, Sept. 18. It'll run from 4 - 8 pm. Gonna have jazz bands, spoken word artists and Haze, a very good local hip hop/funk/everything band. www.hazelive.com. Cover is $10
On Sept. 20, I am helping arrange "War, Peace and American Imagination" at Emory University (http://www.mythicjourneys.org/War_Peace.html). The speakers are:
Deepak Choprah
James Hillman
Jean Houston
It's at 8 pm in the Glenn Memorial Auditorium. Admission is $20, $5 for students. I strongly recommend getting tickets in advance.
Hope to see y'all at any or all of these. All of them should be much fun
