Cracking me up
Jan. 10th, 2006 12:04 amSo, this guy James Frey wrote a popular book saying that he used to be a nasty bad-ass. Now The Smoking Gun (disclaimer: Smoking Gun is run by a former employer of mine) has revealed that he embellished his crimes and misdeeds. The full story is at

Here's what Reuters wrote:
"Frey's lawyer Martin Singer was not immediately available for comment. But in a letter to the Smoking Gun dated January 6 and published on the Web site, he called The Smoking Gun's assertions defamatory and threatened a lawsuit for millions of dollars in damages."
Why am I so amused? Because the defamatory statement is that James Frey really was not as vile an asshole as the book made him out to be. In other words, "I'm going to sue you for saying I'm not that bad!"
Ah, lawyers :-)
