A bill goes before the DeKalb county commission to close clubs early - 2 am I believe. I oppose it and find the arguments being used to advance it to be a lot of nonsense. The DeKalb clubs have had a minimum negative impact on the county and a lot of positive. A lot of people will be hurt by an early closing time, just as we saw in Fulton. Below is contact info for some of the county commissioners. If you are a DeKalb voter, feel free to call or e-mail them to let them know your feelings about it.

You can follow some of the arguments on the Creative Loafing site:

http://blogs.creativeloafing.com/freshloaf/2007/09/24/dekalb-to-roll-back-bar-hours/

Commissioner Larry Johnson, District 3
larryjohnson@co.dekalb.ga.us, 404-371-2425

Commissioner Burrell Ellis, District 4
burrell@burrellellis.com, 404-371-4907

Commissioner Lee May, District 5
lmay@co.dekalb.ga.us, 404-371-4745

Commissioner Connie Stokes, District 7
conniestokes@co.dekalb.ga.us, 404-371-3053

In addition to Commissioners Boyer, Rader, and Gannon, a fourth commissioner
must support the proposal in order for it to pass.
CEO Vernon Jones is threatening to veto the measure. You may want to add him to
your phone or e-mail list:

CEO Vernon Jones
ceo@co.dekalb.ga.us, 404-371-2881

If the CEO vetoes the earlier last call, then a fifth commissioner will be
needed to override the veto. Please call or e-mail these commissioners, and ask
them to stand up for our neighborhoods by keeping the clubs open late.

SIEGE

We're getting great feedback on SIEGE this past weekend. Couldn't have done it without the help of all the people on my f-list who pitched in, and who I would really like to recognize: greatevil, lovelylotus, hugme, alethia_juturna, apfelsingail, wyrdthane, mokitty, silly_filly, wyrdwood, violet_kanji and redcrowstudio. JP and Maylon, what the hell are your LJs?

Anyone I missed due to exhaustion?

And, of course, I would really like to recognize the person who contributed the most from the farthest away: kittymel, whose oaties, baklava, fig newtons and firemen helped make the con go much more smoothly than it otherwise would've. Of the people who were not able to attend, she contributed the most and was the most missed.
