Mar. 13th, 2002 04:36 pmMore people than usual have been asking me what it is I do all day (and night), so I've decided to give LJ a try. That way I can just tell them to check LJ and duck the question completely.
Can't post much of what I do. You can use your own imaginations for why. Okay, well, it's really because I do work under confidentiality agreements, and would get in trouble if I posted about those projects.
Yesterday, 3/12/02, I spent most of the day working on foreign translations of our latest computer game, Mall Tycoon. Most of these tasks involved coordinating with our publisher, Take Two, and testing new versions of the game. Always amusing to test a foreign language I dont know and see what phrases the translators devised to catch the meanings of our sayings and in-jokes.
Got a call from a friend of mine who would like to use some graphics from our computer games as part of a performance at Music Midtown, so Im busy trying to get some of our better art rerendered.
Weve been selling sets of painted miniatures recently, including some really fun undead figures. kittenspeak did an excellent job looking like our vampiress at Gencon last year. Weve also released orcs, elves and dwarves. Andy Harmon wrote up a number of these, as did Chris Wiese. Now were all contributing characters for the next set (a collection of heroes), so I began work on one of those.
Also began a short-short story for an upcoming book in our Fading Suns line, Aliens and Deviltry. Its primarily a reprint of two earlier books, and the short story is mostly for marketing. Andy Harmon is working on some cool new sections for the reprint, however.
Did a little Green Party work in the evening. The Green Party of DeKalb county is holding its annual meeting on March 23rd, and Ive been helping organize the shindig. Its gonna be at the Decatur Public Library at 2 pm. Everyone is invited.
Met up with Barbara Payne from Democracy Rising and Badili Jones, DeKalb Green Party co-chair, to discuss an event theyre planning. Itll feature Ralph Nader, Patty Smith, and gobs of other fun folk. April 12th at the Civic Center. Ill be offering whatever help I can (media contacts, booking local acts, and the like). We ate Ethiopian at Meskerem over by the Tara. Good place, but I still prefer the Ethiopian restaurant on Buford. The one on Buford used to be called Abbay, but it just changed its name. Still good food, though. Gave Badili a copy of Avalon Hill's classic political game, Class Struggle. I think he liked it.
Also went fliering around town. Had fliers to put up for the Green meeting, for Fantasm, and for Bernard Clarks Wide-Open Beaver festival.
