Week of 1-19-03
Jan. 19th, 2003 09:53 amSun, 1-19-03. Playtesting Rapture, going to see Dave Alvin (from the Blasters - interviewed them more than a decade ago) at Smith's Olde Bar.
Mon, 1-20-03. Marching in the MLK parade and taking part in some of the other MLK activities around town all day. Should be an interesting day.
Tues, 1-21-03. Making final arrangements for a show featuring Paul Mercer to be held Saturday.
Weds, 1-22-03. Qabalah meeting.
Thurs, 1-23-03. More playtesting.
Fri, 1-24-03. Not sure. Anyone got good plans?
Sat, 1-25-03. Putting on a Green Party fundraiser featuring Changelings violinist Paul Mercer, leading Atlanta writer Gary Corseri, and a number of other artists and performers. I'll be posting more info later, but it'll be a good show and fairly early (like 9 - midnight), so come out to it before hitting all the other clubs.

Date: 2003-01-22 12:09 pm (UTC)Merely a matter of curiosity, so feel free to ignore; and I hope you will not mind my present intrusion into your lj. At any rate, I saw the reference
Weds, 1-22-03. Qabalah meeting.
and noticed a number of other qabalah meetings elsewhere listed for other dates, and was intrigued. If I may ask, is there a specific tradition you study, or specific author or school, or the whole vast subject in general?

Sure; my thanks.
Mind if I asked what piqued your curiosity?
Not at all. It was simply a mix of the qabalah reference—a subject I have studied, myself, for many years (since my teens, really, despite the sundry age prohibitions in the Jewish tradition)—and the fact that it was mentioned in the context of a regularly occurring study. While I’ve met many over the years with an interest in the matter, it has seemed rare to encounter people actually willing to study the often bewildering subject, so it caught my attention. And as there are a number of different traditions, with both major and minor variants, I thought I’d ask for curiosity’s sake if the study focused on any in particular. My thanks, again, for the reply, and the swiftness of the same.
BTW, if curious, I happened across your lj via a reference in
martinhesselius’s journal as I was reading through my friends list earlier.

Date: 2003-01-24 03:18 pm (UTC)Thanks; with my schedule I seldom seem able to get away from Rural Hell, KY, but I’ll certainly keep it in mind. If I may ask, is the focus theoretical (philosophical, mystical, etc.) or practical?
I’ve taken the liberty of adding your lj to my friends list; hope you don’t mind? (If you do, you need but say as much & I'll oblige & remove it, no worries.) As my lj is friends-only, it opens it up for browsing if you’re curious; haven’t had time to keep it updated too much of late, but I have from time to time occasion to write on these & other topics.
